It's crazy how long you can live in NYC without ever seeing certain parts of the city. I finally made it out to Flushing, Queens: NYC's second largest Chinatown. Bubble tea, dim sum, and epic produce are in abundance, but aside from the food, it's the place to go for a crazy selection of cheap iphone cases. I caved when I saw this hologram aquarium case. It had to be mine!
Speaking of tropical fishies, peep this INSANE 90s jean jacket I saw on Etsy. Someone somewhere is going to trip out some eyeballs.

Kukini
I dabbled in the sneakerhead society some years back, but never got like obsessed. You know those types....they'd skip eating for a week for a pair of kicks. Crazy talk. Anyway, I was reading a post on rad blog Through a Glass Darkly today, in which she references Yui, a cool blogger in Tokyo and I was reminded of Nike's Kukini model, a futuristic slip-on style that first came out in 1998. Now you're lucky if you find a few pairs floating around ebay, but after doing a quick search, I learned that Nike is releasing a new version of the Kukini this spring with an update to the sole that kind of resembles teeth. I could definitely get down with these!

WAX
When I got an email the other day from a former colleague of mine, I knew he had to be up to something worthy of my attention, as we hadn't really spoken since we parted ways. He was writing to tell me about a new project he was working on with some friends called WAX. It's a new bi-annual print magazine that will explore the intersection of surfing, art and culture around NYC. The idea came about when graphic designers David Yun and Zak Klauck, and writer Aerial Brown noticed a huge hole in publications that speak to the unique community of surfers found in NYC and other urban environments (yes you CAN surf outside of California and Hawaii!). So of course I took a big interest being a designer, surfer, and magazine addict myself and I've already backed them on Kickstarter. Sound cool to you too? Well go support them! The first issue of WAX is expected to drop sometime in May.

True Story
This has got to be my favorite head-to-toe look from the Fall 2012 collections thus far. It literally reads like a perfect book to me, one written by the amazing Hussein Chalayan.
Beginning: zero makeup, save for some silver glitter glossed onto the lids and a side swept mane going from smooth to crinkly waves (a look you can see the making of here).

Middle: a neutral pairing of black and tan oversized boxy cuts hanging to a generous length over perfectly slim hologram trousers.
