Don't wear stripes on tv

I didn't make it to the Issey sample sale this week but it's ok because I finally got my Issey pants from the post office that I won last month off ebay! I know I confused/dizzied people wearing them to work today....and on my late trip home as all the dolled-up droves headed towards the Meatpacking District. The pants have these tiny vertical pleats with black and white stripes following them so that a natural moiré pattern forms the way the fabric lays. They're so much fun to wear and super lightweight which is good since it's been sticky icky icky in NYC lately.

Sonic the hedgehog

I just can't help it- I have a weakness for black wedge ankle boots. These bear a striking resemblance to my Minimarket wedges so doubt I'll get these too, and coincidentally come from Scandinavia as well, by way of Camilla Skovgaard, a Danish shoe designer. My favorite part is the exaggerated rubber lug sole, should you find yourself in a very muddy situation.

Time-less

Every season, Margiela has one of the most original accessories collections out there. I was browsing the vast galaxy that is Colette and spotted all these pieces from his "11" line that are designed to look like the case of a watch, minus the timepiece. I love the idea- probably because I have no concept of time (ask anyone) and am especially stoked on the bracelet, which would make an amazing timeless piece to have.

I Know Why No

I've probably only hit on knitwear here and there around this place, like when rocking my fave sweater, the amazing cold-weather accessories champ Yokoo, or in the case of this fishing net dress Ida Sjöstedts sent down the runway in Stockholm. So I was excited when I came across this picture on Hel Looks of this chick wearing the most amazing lilac loose knit dress, styled to perfection. Thank god Hel Looks takes notes or I would never know the designer of the dress, I Know Why No, even existed.

There is not too much info about the label, but I learned that it is the handiwork of designer Aino Vainio, based out of Finland. Rather than follow the seasonal model, Aino has crafted a few dozen pieces, and then set up photoshoots to draw the essence of the garments. Cursed, Cheetah, Dark Energy, and Spirited are just a few of the mini collections on her site and they all have a different, yet cohesive energy I'm really drawn to. Loose dyed knits contrast well next to other fabrics Aino works with like hologram vinyl and silk jersey, all reflecting the dark, remote nature of Finland.
