True Talent

It's been almost a whole year since we introduced you to the wonderful Claudia Becker (crazy how times flies!). We have gotten little tid bits here and there of her various projects over the last 12 months, and she just sent me another update. Always innovative with her materials and designs, she never fails to blow my mind. Currently doing her apprenticeship at Pelican Avenue in Antwerp (yeah I know- SO RAD!), she has been working hard preparing installations for Paris and London fashion weeks. I can't wait till she is done with her degree and comes Stateside!!! Here are a few photos of what she has been up to recently.

It's universal

One of our favorite designers, Claudia Becker, sent me this beautiful universe dress after much hassel on my end. :) I have been waiting for the right occassion to bust it out, and last friday I got the opportunity- I met up with Amanda for the Mishka opening party and Trouble & Bass. Unfortunately the pics from that night are fuzzy at best, so here is my attempt at a quick do-over.

Snuggie for your laptop

I've been keeping tabs on Claudia Becker, mostly because once her first collection is out, I'm going to be all over it. In the mean time, she has sent me pics of another endeavor she has been working on—handmade laptop sleeves. If you treat your computer like a part of the family, then you should totally upgrade with one of these cozy sleeves. Hand knitted with oh-so-soft yarn and lined with leather—pure quality goods. Claudia Becker update

So I just got a quick update on Amanda's post about German designer Claudia Becker. At 21, she already has 2 years of design school under her belt as well as internships with Cassette Playa and Bless. Claudia focuses on experimenting with non-fabric materials for her pieces. She's on her way back to Hamburg to finish school, so we should be seeing her stateside around 2010. For now we will just have to suffice with her myspace page. We will be keeping tabs on this one, so check back for updates!
