A New York art icon, Richard Kern has described photography as a "way to get into intimate situations with other people." His provocative portraits, as Kern prefers to call them, have garnered a wide audience over the course of his career, playing off the artist's admitted voyeurism against his model's evident exhibitionism. There's been a lot of interest in his work the past few years, including the release of several books, a t-shirt capsule collection with our friends at Mishka (of which I'm the proud owner of one), and his series on VBS Shot By Kern.
If you're a fan of his work, curious to learn more, or just like looking at naked ladies, you should not miss his show opening tomorrow night in NYC! Rental Gallery will host the exhibit, showing a retrospective of his work from 1980-2009.
