After a nearly 4 month hiatus from this blog, I'm back! I didn't mean to step away that long, but hey...shit happens. At any rate, I thought I'd come back with something fresh. Fresh like like picking up a juicy bag of fruit on your way home from work. Such was Opening Ceremony's inspiration for their Pre-Fall '15 collection and it's definitely working for me. I've really been impressed the last several seasons with OC as they get more and more creative with telling a story through prints, pattern, and texture. I kind of want a banana now..

Make yourself at home
Flipping through the September issues of America's celebrity-coated fashion mags often reveals a quite literal regurgitation of the Fall runways. So it was quite refreshing when I saw this brilliant story imagined through the eyes of photographer Boe Marion and stylist Catherine Newell-Hanson. Oversized textured knits, motorcross-inspired pieces and sporty socks all mashed up against the most average of suburbia make for a really exciting vision of the season the leaves turn.

Ca$h Money
I feel like Phillip Lim is on to something with his bags for next season...very tongue in cheek. I appreciate that he doesn't take himself so seriously. Of course, if you're going to spend a lot on a bag, you want it to be "an investment piece". I guess this is kind of poking fun at that in a way?

Criss Cross
I know it seems a bit early to be thinking about fall, but Proenza Schouler just released a preview of their Fall 2014 campaign and my eyes lit right up. Not only is this image gorgeous (must attempt that mermaid cheekbone effect), but those crisscross leather oxfords are A++. You can already nab them if you like! ;)

You're so transparent
How the hell is it June already?? I don't even know what to wear anymore..but that's where having rad accessories on hand comes in. Even if you are wearing the same ol same, you can reach for some stunner piece and feel more put together. That's what I dig about this five-panel transparent hat from Larose. You just can't use it to hide a bad hair day!

Magneto
These black pearl two-piece earrings from London designer Estelle Dévé x The Fashion Club are the perfect blend of lux and industrial. Plus they have a magnet closure, so no need to make holes in your ears if you don't already have them.

So fresh and so clean
Spring is here, but not all-the-way there yet for a lot of us in the northern hemisphere, nah' mean? Regardless, it's wardrobe reevaluation time. Luckily the always on point Goodhood store has a fresh spring lookbook to inspire us till the air is filled with flowers.

You better get out of the sun before you melt
My friend Rachael filled me in about a new photography exhibit featuring the work of Akila Berjaoui opening tomorrow at her gallery in Brooklyn, Human NYC. As soon as I saw the flyer, I was instantly transported to crystal beaches and turquoise surf. Needless to say, I'll be swinging by the opening party on Saturday night and you should too if you'll be around.

Emerald city life
I can always count on Marni for a quirky take on lux sportiness. This coat for Fall 14 is all that and more. Something about that boxy leather silhouette set off with just the right amount of fur in that perfect shade of emerald. Give it to me.

The bird
If you are a seasoned New Yorker, chances are you've heard of The Sock Man. The store has been a stronghold on St. Mark's for over thirty years, and it's the only place you should go if your feet are in need of some printastic upgrades. I plan on wearing these middle finger jawns until I get holes in them.

Richmanpoorman
I always did love bomber jackets, both when they were trendy in the Nirvana era, and still in their more fashionable comeback. Bless has one of the best versions I've seen lately that stays true to the classic appeal with a "but wait there's more!" addition. Not only is it reversible, but it's lined in fur. Aptly named the Richmanpoorman Bomber, you can scoop it now at VFILES.

Express yourself
Stella McCartney's vision for pre-fall is pretty epic. The most expressive pieces revolve around black and white exaggerated patterns found in patchwork houndstooth blanket coats and figurative abstract line drawings from artist Gary Hume. These are the kinds of pieces that really work hard for the money if you know what I mean.

Perfecto
Man I can't wait till it's leather weather again! I'm still not over the high of finally owning an Acne leather jacket, but I guess now I'm just getting greedy. One of my latest label obsessions, Filles à papa has succeeded in blending mermaid-esque sequins into the gritty splendor of a leather jacket. Ridiculously amazing.

Snow Day
The Northeast states just got DUMPED on. Winter is here loud and clear. I'm yearning for a thick oversized knit to curl up in. This Celine one would be ace, but considering searching the big guys section for something similar.
