Chunk

Finally someone has done a unique take on the platform sneaker we've been seeing for seasons...and of course it's Acne. There's something so seriously satisfying about a good chunky shoe. I think it's the same thing that makes me freak out with joy every time I see a french bulldog——they are perfectly compact yet have an unrivaled presence like no other.

Office Space

Jeffrey Campbell pumps out new shoes like nobody's business. You blink, and you miss out on some style only sold on one site and gone quicker than you can say Twitter. Despite all the hype, there are always styles that either slip by unnoticed, or are just too strange for the fashion herds. I went on Solestruck today and saw these two kooky ass club kid-meets-office styles appropriately named "Never" and "Get Out." Yeah, that pretty much describes my reaction to each, then I switched to "Why Not?" and "I Might Need These."

Dance

I'm kinda feeling the Klinge platform shoe from Aldo with its nubby toe and huge elastic band. I had mostly shrugged off the chain until Ms. Stam stepped in and raised the roof I guess...I see a lot better looking options now than in seasons past.

Handheld party

An accidental trip to the Virtual Shoe Museum led me to these insane Game Boy platforms that Helen Red Richards designed for Nintendo's 2001 Style Campaign. The $2000 shoes with removable color-coordinated Game Boys (apparently you could buy these??) were described by Nintendo as being for the "club kids with attention deficit disorder." I can picture the scenario going something like this: [club kid 1] "This DJ sucks man!" [club kid 2] "I don't feel these pills working yet." [club kid 3] "Wanna play my Game Boys? I have two :)"

Ugly is the new black

With all the killer platform wedge boots both lighting up and boring my eyes lately, I thought I'd see what sort of 90s predecessors and weird styles I could dig up on ebay. If you share the same attraction to questionable shoes as I do, then you might be in luck (these are all size 6.5 for some reason). Use your imagination people- these could be the start of a rad outfit!

KTZ Puffer Platform

Welcome Hunters has such a quirky, eclectic selection of wearables—I MUST remind myself to check their store more often. It looks like I won't be tripping over my own feet though cause these babies are sold out and although they are so 90s club kid meets Rick Owens, I still love them...as ugly as they are.
