Mermaid Parade at Coney Island
Hopefully this won't be the last Mermaid Parade at Coney Island. This was my first time surprisingly. I'm actually quite obsessed with mermaids. Brooklyn was deep there this year! Our friends K.U.D.U. performed and Dances with White Girls DJed the Mermaid Ball. Here are a few favorites...

All Eyes on You
Every once in awhile I pass some stylish body on the street and instantly make a mental note of some aspect of their outfit I want to copy. But rarely do I see something I actually am sure I can replicate by making myself. This guy's bracelet is one of those things. I already have a ton of bangles just sitting in my drawer waiting to be resurrected, so I think I see a craft project in my near future.

Pretty Young Thing
This ring is made by designer Arlene Guerra for her collection Pretty Young Thing. She re-works vintage jewelry pieces into unique one-offs. I found one of these at Pixie Market on 100 Stanton between Ludlow and Orchard. This is definitely a new staple piece for me!

Burfitt Spring/Summer 2008
Swedish fashion designer and illustrator Lovisa Burfit decided to move to Paris in 2003. Soon after, some pretty well known boutiques began buying her silkscreened t-shirts. Now with a full range collection, Burfitt is carried in some of best shops worldwide including Opening Ceremony here in New York. I am so in love with her Spring/Summer lookbook, I decided to post the whole thing. The styling and art direction is beautiful- I can only hope I'll get to work on a project like this one day.

Colette to Pop Up in NYC
Colette, the world-famous French boutique filled with a surplus of exclusive products you can almost never get your hands on, is opening a pop-up shop in NYC the end of this summer. Starting on September 5 and lasting one month, Colette will open it's doors on 54th Street to it's culture-crazed customers. I must admit, this location doesn't seem the best place for a store that sells design books, short run t-shirt lines and tote bags but I'm sure the downtown kids will line up anyway.

It’s Our Thing is a collaboration between the graphic designer PMKFA, based in Tokyo, and Osaka’s finest screen-printer Sweatshop Union. The current range features a selection of bright, fun pieces with detailed vectors of monsters, patterns, and custom typography. Products were previously only available at select shops in London, New York, Tokyo, Copenhagen, and Berlin but now you can purchase their graphic tops straight from the source.

Mishka Summer 2008 Lookbook
Our friends at Mishka have just published their sexy Summer 2008 Lookbook for our hungry eyes titled A Summer in Abandon. What better way to sell men's clothes then to put them on some hot ladies? Featuring delicious photography from my partner in crime, the amazingly talented Ellen Stagg, this is one lookbook you don't want to miss.

Make the Cut
I never underestimate Urban Outfitters. Although they are a mass chain retailer, they often carry some great stock if you're looking for basic staples, and prices are generally recession friendly. Lately they've been doing exclusive collaborations with established designers like Green Ford, and future collabs are being planned with Samantha Pleet, Samantha Ronson, Steven Alan and Corpus. Currently, UO has collaborated with label LD Tuttle to produce exclusive summer cut-out shoes. They are part of a larger collection of interesting cut-out footwear currently available at UO with styles ranging from sandals, to boots and oxfords. Give your feet some much needed air this summer and give those gladiators a rest.

Welcome to the Jungle
We always have cool and crazy posts for the ladies, so here's a couple pairs of hot shoes for the fellas....not quite animal print but pretty wild none the less.
You can find all these here.
Levi's + D
Model and actress Devon Aoki is set to launch a clothing line for Levi's. "My clothing line is coming out,” she says. “Mainly we’re doing it in Asia, but we’re bringing it here in about six months. It’s called Levi’s + D, the D is for Devon. We’re doing everything from denim to swimwear–you name it! I get inspired by vintage pieces you can’t really get anymore.”

Fall 2008 Topshop Lookbook is Here
Below is the first peek at what you'll see gracing the racks at America's first Topshop, opening in Soho in October. The UK chain, which will be located at 478 Broadway at Broome, will provide some 40,000 square feet of retail glory. Once New Yorkers get a taste of this place, I know it will be a regular stop for many girls and guys . Finally we will have affordable contemporary fashion made up of right-now styles, instead of cheap interpretations of worn-out trends. I can hardly wait- I've already made my picks for Fall!
