The new art fragrance from Boudicca has arrived. Wode is the first visible fragrance ever! The name Wode is taken from the word “Woad”, a deep blue plant extract, which was used in paste form by the ancient Britons as a tribal marking. Wode is packaged in a classic spray paint can and comes out a bright cobalt blue—graffiti is the modern war paint after all. But don't worry about staining your clothes--it disappears after you apply it. It is also available in a regular Eau de Toilette if the idea of colored scents scares you.
Evoking a an emotional sexual power, the subtle notes of the fragrance include juniper berry, nutmeg, and sage—a blend of herbal spice and lighter floral notes that will leave a lingering impression. The fragrance has been many years in the making and it will officially launch tonight in London at the Frieze Art Fair. It is currently available at Colette in Paris, and soon at Barneys in the US as well as Browns and Dover Street Market in the UK. An ex-colleague of mine, Jason of JC Report, was able to score an advanced tester of the fragrance during Paris Fashion week and sat down with one of Boudicca's designers, Zowie Broach, to discuss the concept and process of making this innovative product.
