A Closer Look at COMME des GARCONS for H&M

So in less than a month and a half, there will be lines wrapped around the block for the CDC x H&M collection. It seems like a lot of Rei's fans are on the fence about whether they will line up to grab a thing or ten, mainly because some prices were recently announced and they aren't exactly in the normal disposable H&M range. This made me reconsider too until I saw the coats. The COATS. They are pretty amazing, and considering CDC would normally be in the thousands for some of these pieces, I don't think a couple hundred or so is bad, unless the quality is crap, which if Rei did her job, it won't be.

Other than the coats, the polka dot shoes, bag, and wallet won me over, as well as some of these other pieces I put together below like that uneven skirt (wow!). I picked out some of the men's stuff too cause I would wear a lot of it as well.

Check out the more of the collection here.

Bedazzled Balmain and some good knockoffs

I never thought I'd use the word "bedazzled" in a good way! Drummer boy jackets and enough studs and rocker bling to make you go blind. Pure genius! Love, love, love.

Speaking of Balmain, the Fall 08 collection was pretty amazing too, especially those fringe boots that every model had on.

If you obsessed over those, check out these $23 knockoffs! I'm so excited to find them! It's a pretty cheesy site, but that's where you gotta look to find the good stuff.

Style Icon: Kate Lanphear

Her peroxide white hair and boyish dark style is recognizable for miles. As Senior Style Director for US Elle, Kate Lanphear has achieved near-cult status in Japan, and spawned a global crew of copycats who follow every style move she makes.

Global Street Style, September

So here's a roundup of some of my favorite looks from around the world this month—it was so hard to narrow down cause of all the fashion week events but it seems like NYC had a lot of shining moments.

I only have eyes for you

In case you didn't know, Amanda and I have a partial obession with eyewear. (well, we have lots of obsessions, but lets focus here!) I was browsing around ebay today and I came across this vintage eyewear store.

Queue sensory overload—I think the second frames down will be mine by week's end...and I think Amanda would look stunning in those zebra frames.

Spotlight: Boiy Krazi

We recently paid a visit to Boiy Krazi's Groovi Gardens in Williamsburg to visit JoAnn Berman and play dress up. In case you havent heard of her, JoAnn has been designing womenswear for over two decades, servicing such names as Randolph Duke, Patricia Field, and Rihanna to name a few. Her first editorial was for Italian Vogue in 1985, featuring none other than Cindy Crawford!

Boiy Krazi takes you from psychedelic to rocker chic, goth to pop princess—a proper mash up of her creative past and present. If you can't find something that suits you, Joanne will design and customize a piece just for you, so dont be shy—just tell her what you want and she will create it! I loved the Boy scout dress so much that Theresa tried on, that she is currently making me a security guard version!

Boiy Krazi is located at 622 Metropolitan Avenue, Williamsburg

The Second Big Bang

As part of New High (M)art's latest installment entitled Cosmic Collision, one of the sci-fi collections available in the shop is from Spacelite Vintage. With a hyper pairing of the past and future, Spacelite has contributed some amazing metallic and night-black garments available for a limited time in the store. If you don't live near LA, don't fret, as there will be an online store up soon and until then you can view a lot of the items on flickr and email for purchase inquiries.

Shoe Gazing

Here is a lovely collection of shoe porn as spotted by style photographers Jak & Jil at NYC and Paris fashion weeks this year.
