Pump It Up
These Reeboks remind me of a simpler time, when I was in junior high and the only things that mattered were boys and well, boys. Some things never change. And yes, these babies have the Reebok "PUMP"! They're availiable exclusively at Size UK.

Balance and asymmetry
I'm a big fan of black and white from head to toe, but when you add a pinch of a color like dayglo yellow to throw it off a bit, it only makes it better. Those amazing asymmetrical glassess are icing on the cake.

I don't need no fancy things
I've been seeing a lot of grey jersey used recently in unexpected ways, and it's a beautiful thing because it's one of the most comfortable materials on earth. I especially love when it is used for something like this bandeu dress at Topshop. The sophisticated detailing around the bust makes up for the casual vibe the material gives off, making the options endless for where to wear it and what to wear it with—I like their suggestion of towering platform shoe boots though. Done.

Keep it simple
I like this girl's look a lot. It is nothing that hasn't been done before but I like how she was able to make the outfit seem effortless yet polished—perfect for days when you have to run from the office to a party.

Everything you are
It's not just the ladies that get the crazy two-in-one shoes that make you do a double take. These Givenchy 8-buckle Gladiator Derbys were spotted on a fellow at London Fashion Week months before their expected arrival date. They are part punk, part gentleman...simply amazing.

Dunderdon Sale
Swedish brand Dunderdon is having a pre-holiday sale both online and in their stores. Founder carpenter Pier-Ivan Hagberg sums up the philosophy of the brand: “Honest, simple designs are timeless. Our products should represent the highest craftsmanship and innovation, while never compromising on fit and style. We respect the past, but we don’t rely on it.”
I particularly like their men's collection, but the women's is a bit too basic for me—not enough color. But with a great price point for quality threads, Dunderdon is a great gift for the holidays.

Gisele in Elle
The folks over at Alex & Chloe must be stoked to see a necklace of theirs in a major fashion rag, and on one of the hottest women alive no less. Here's a sweaty Gisele rocking the Le Pendule necklace in the December issue of Elle for an editorial appropriately named Paradise City. The photography and type treatment is gorgeous too.

Imitation of Christ is no more
Yup, that's right. Imitation of Christ, which quickly became a cult favorite in 2000, has lost its street appeal. The label is shutting down after being sold to Sass & Bide last fall, but now its official (their site even appears to be down already). Today, they will have their last sale with 20-30% off wholesale prices which should rack up to be a really good deal.

Powerhaus
I have taken quite a liking to black jewelry lately. It is something I think would make a nice addition to my mostly silver/gold collection since I like to wear a lot of black, and you can't go wrong with black on black, or any monochrome pairing for that matter. These necklaces are by Powerhaus, who I mentioned briefly back in September when they were picked to be part of New High (M)art's Cosmic Collision pop-up shop. I love the clustered designs of these pieces particularly, because they have a sculptural quality about them, but are still simple in form. They would be the perfect accessory to jazz up a plain t-shirt or tank.

Take two vintage dresses and call me in the morning
After all these years, I still have not been able to shake my weekly case of the "Mondays". It's hard to concentrate when the all too recent memories of the weekend are still fresh in my mind. But what does help is the hour or so i spend each Monday morning looking at my ebay faves (part obssession, part inspiration for the week). This adorable dress from Liebe Marlene vintage is a perfect remedy for the "Mondays". Throw on some textured tights and these cute Oxfords and call it a day.

Gilt
I recently joined Gilt Groupe, an invitation-only shopping site that gives access to men's and woman's labels at up to 70% off retail. Each sale lasts only 24-36 hours, so the products listed are first come, first serve—much like a virtual sample sale. One of the sales that started today at noon ET is for Helmut Lang and there are quite a few cool pieces at good prices compared to his regular pricepoint, like this double-layered cut out tank for $84 (regularly $275). If you'd like an invite, let me know. New sales are listed regularly.

Gemma Degara
I came across Gemma Degara when browsing through Doshaburi Barcelona's plentiful stock of under-the-radar designers. Much of her line is dresses, and many of them come in multiple colorways. She’s characterized for working in versatile collections where functionality and comfort are the real protagonists. Upon investigating her site, I learned she sells her line directly on Etsy and the prices are very reasonable (marked down from retail) so I may consider picking up the neoprene coat or batman sleeve dress.

America: We Love Having You Here
In Zoe Strauss's second exhibition of works at the Bruce Silverstein Gallery, she has taken her camera to the road in an attempt to create an apt portrait of the United States, concentrating largely on the overlooked parts of America. Strauss has maintained an extremely personable approach to her subjects, aiming her lens at those things we cannot or choose not to see. The exhibition is also accompanied by her first monograph entitled AMERICA.
Tonight, 11.22
Book Signing, 6-8PM

Hot head
These helmets by Ruby are delicious and if I had a vespa or motorcycle, I'd probably consider getting one. I like how on their site though they point out that they can be used for your bikes, wardrobes, or interior design. I never thought of a helmet being decoration in my apartment but these would make nice conversation pieces for sure.

Blame it on the dog
Peter Sutherland is one of my all-time favorite imagemakers. You may know him from his documentary photography but he's also worked on several films including PEDAL, a film and book about NYC bike messenger culture, and the skate documentary STOKED: The Rise and Fall of Gator. He has contributed editorial work for Vice over the years and been in many exhibitions around the world. I saw his solo show in spring of 2006 at the Reed Space and was blown away by his photos. Starting this friday, ATM Gallery will host a selection of Peter's sculptures, photographs, and video. There will be an opening reception from 6-8pm. The gallery is in Chelsea at 621 West 27th Street.

666 + 1
We just made it past our 666th post! To celebrate, I scanned in these pages from my new obsession and go to for inspiration and laughs, PETIT MAL, which I told you about in September. When it comes to makeup, I think eyes have the most potential to evoke a certain mood. Even with brighter hues, these panda bear-esque looks can bring a sense of mystery and darkness to an everyday outfit. Wouldn't you wonder what's going on in the mind of gal walking down the street looking like this? Evil becomes both strange and beautiful.

It's cold outside
The weather has reached shivering-level fast here in NYC. Instead of putting on warmer clothes, however, many of us just wear thin layers and put on the thickest coat we own. But imagine owning this zip mohair cardigan by The Stray Boys. It has a PADDED collar giving the illusion it's a hoodie while keeping your neck nice and warm. Your body would thank you for your wise purchase, and then you'd leave it on for days until people started making hipppie jokes about you.

Leggings are pants
Ok, I've seen enough variations of leggings and you have too, especially if you read our blog enough. Say it with me: "Leggings ARE pants." Especially when they bring in leather panels over top of jersey...craaaaaaazy. Thanks J Dauphin for making my night. Now if only I had 235 pounds (that's roughly $350) to spend on pants right now, or ever for that matter.

Lets talk hair
From an early age, I appreciated good hair and nice haircuts. Mine was really long as a kid and my dad used to braid my hair in pigtails so tight my eyes would water, but I put up with the pain cause I knew I looked cute. The next day when I took the braids out I'd have big, fluffy crimped hair and I loved it. Now in the second half of my 20s, I've developed quite the opposite obsession. I can't go a day without straightening my hair and I'm convinced it looks bad when humidity kicks it in the ass. So I came across this pic, and having a similar length and color, I started to imagine how good it could actually look if I embraced the wave, so to speak.
I'm also quite fond of Ms. Moss's recent haircut, especially when she wears it all wavy and tousled.

Stærk SS09
Camilla Stærk is known for her distinctive use of leather and dark romanticism, and you can really see why in her Spring 2009 collection. Camilla is a native of Denmark and studied fashion in London, but she now calls New York home. Her collections in London marked her as "a future fashion star" in the words of British Vogue, and her work went on to be awarded Top Shop's New Generation Award three times. She now has a devoted celebrity following including Liv Tyler, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and The Raveonettes. In August, Stærk opened her first boutique in Nolita. The space reflects her Scandinavian roots—the perfect environment for her sleek designs.

Quinny by Henrik Vibskov
Whether you are expecting or not, you gotta appreciate this unusual collaboration. Quinny, Europe's leading brand in innovative strollers has partnered with Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov to create a collection inspired by the boundless imagination of children. Besides the buggy above, the line include an adorable one-piece penguin outfit, blankets, baby beanies, and matching umbrellas for adult and child. I don't see kids in my near future, but I love the idea behind this collection and Vibskov is one of my favorite designers so I'm stoked he's exploring new territory. If you want to see it in person, there will be drinks and grub tomorrow night at OpenHouse Gallery downtown—info below.
